Algeria has a rich history and vibrant culture, and it once vied with Morocco in attracting tourists to the northern coast of Africa. A protracted internal conflict, however, ignited and for long made the country a dangerous place to visit. Stability appears to be returning, and some of the tourist trade has come back, though visitors should check for advisories on the US State Department website before making any plans to stay here.
It is therefore inspiring that the Algerian Golf Federation was founded. So far, though, Algiers Golf Club in Dely-Ibrahim is the only course open for play in the country. Fortunately, this club is world-class, with excellent facilities and a stunning location that affords views of the capital and the Mediterranean shore. Natives and foreigners alike appreciate the fine amenities, and the staff is there to make sure that those who come without clubs will be able to get out on the course.
