The Equality State, as it is known, is in the mountain region of the United States in the northwest of the country. This makes for some wonderfully dramatic vistas and scenery in the state. It is one of the least densely populated states meaning lots of room for nature and, of course, golf courses! One of the most famous attractions to this state is Yellowstone National Park and the Old Faithful Geyser that can be found there. It is also a great destination for skiers with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, but that’s for the off-season. Although not hugely famous for golf there are some spectacular courses in Wyoming that you should check-out.
Jackson Hole also happens to be a fantastic place to play golf when the snow has disappeared. One of the best courses in the region is Snake River Sporting Club which was designed by Tom Weiskopf. The views of the surrounds of this course are stunning with the Snake River, the mountains and the vast expanses of National Forest that this course effortlessly blends into. A beautiful course and one you can enjoy even if your game isn’t up to scratch. Staying in this area we also have the Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay-designed Teton Pines Country Club and Resort. Like the previous course, this track sits in truly incredible surrounds but the course is every bit as good as its backdrop and the final four holes are a demanding stretch and possibly one of the best finishes to a course you’ll ever play!
To move away from Jackson, although it is a region with an abundance of great courses, The Powder Horn Golf Club in Sheridan, WY is another magnificent offering in the state. With three nine hole complexes to choose from, The Mountain Nine, The Eagle Nine and The Stag Nine all offer differing styles of shot-making and terrain to enjoy. This is a fantastic place to play.
Finally, Three Crowns Golf Club in Casper, WY is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. championship course with flawless Kentucky Bluegrass tees, dazzling adornments of white sand bunkers to be negotiated, and perfectly manicured bentgrass putting surfaces. This is a great resort with lots of interesting features and a comprehensive practice facility set-up to boot.
